The relationship between the two is soooooooooo unrealistic. I did not shed a single tear. The moment I walked through the door after dropping him off, I collapsed to the floor of my mud room and started sobbing and gasping for breath.
But The Choice is based on a Nicholas Sparks book, and produced by the same North Carolina-based author of vaguely Christian sentimental pap. Everything she did uggggggggggh drove me insane. Tragedy and grief are themes. He is a very intelligent dog and was completely potty trained in 2 weeks, with only accidents in the house.
He is able to do everything, and I'm just not ok with this. It was pretty stressful trying to return home to a normal life. Just going to jump right in Then we have Travis.
Which leads me to the plot. Turns out Travis really is irresistible. Within the first 10 minutes after leaving PetSmart we started learning about his quirky personality.
Rather than include a spoiler I will include this relevant hyperlink. Sparks you have your two main characters fall in love in one weekend!!!! The last 5 years hit us like a brick wall. A man is punched in the face.
At this point, I feel like the Nicholas Sparks machine is on autopilot. We don't have time for you to waste on all this pointless backstory BS. Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heart wrenching question of all: I was told over and over again by several people that that none of this would matter.
